Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Smaplo ("Smaplo", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Smaplo mobile application, website, and related services.
App and Developer
App name: Smaplo
Developer/legal entity: Vlad Calina
Contact email: smaplo@zohomail.eu
Account deletion instructions: https://www.smaplo.com/delete-account
Information We Collect
Smaplo collects information you provide, information generated while you use the app, and information collected through device permissions that you choose to grant.
Account and Profile Information
We may collect your user ID, name, display name, username, email address, profile photo, phone number, phone verification data, profile details, profile links, social links, account settings, privacy settings, authentication provider, and related account metadata.
If you sign in with Google, Apple, or another supported provider, we receive information needed to create and maintain your Smaplo account, such as your provider account identifier, email address, display name, and authentication tokens or credentials handled by the provider and Firebase Authentication.
Location Information
Smaplo is a social map app. With your permission, we may collect precise or approximate location information to:
-
show your position on the map;
-
show nearby users, groups, events, or places;
-
let you share your current or custom location according to your privacy settings;
-
update your visible location while the app is in use or, if you enable it, in the background;
-
support location-based links, discovery, safety, debugging, and service functionality.
You can configure who can see your location in the app's privacy settings. You can also turn off location permissions in your device settings. Some map and discovery features may not work without location access.
Contacts
If you grant contacts permission, Smaplo may access names and phone numbers from your device contacts to help you find people you know or invite contacts to the app. Contact access is permission-based and can be disabled in your device settings.
Messages, Groups, Events, and User Content
We may collect and store content you create or share in Smaplo, including chat messages, group messages, group details, event details, posts, moments, images, videos, profile media, comments, reactions, invitations, reports, and related metadata.
Uploaded, selected, or shared media may be processed for safety, abuse prevention, and content moderation, including NSFW detection or similar checks intended to reduce harmful or inappropriate content.
Some secure chat backup features may allow you to create backups in your Google Account or private iCloud app storage.
Depending on the backup option you choose, backup data may include secure message history and related metadata. Password-protected or encrypted backup options should be described accurately in the app before users enable them.
Photos, Camera, Microphone, and Media
If you grant permission, Smaplo may access your camera, photo library, or microphone so you can scan codes, update your profile, upload media, create moments, record audio messages or other audio, or share images.
Calendar, Motion, Bluetooth, Local Network, and Nearby Features
If you use features that require them, Smaplo may request calendar, motion/activity, Bluetooth, or local network permissions. These permissions may be used for event-related features, profile statistics, nearby-user discovery, device-to-device discovery, or data transfer between nearby devices.
Notifications
We may collect and use push notification tokens and notification preferences to send account, message, group, event, location, and service notifications. You can manage notification permissions in your device settings.
Device, Diagnostics, Analytics, and Security Information
We may collect technical information such as device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, performance data, diagnostic logs, app interactions, feature usage, network status, device information, and security or integrity signals. This may include emulator, root, jailbreak, mock-location, physical-device, or similar integrity checks where applicable. This helps us operate, debug, secure, and improve the app.
Smaplo uses Firebase and related Google services for authentication, database, file storage, cloud functions, remote configuration, analytics, crash reporting, and messaging.

We use information to:
-

-
performance of a contract, such as when we provide account, profile, map, messaging, group, event, backup, and support features;

How Information Is Shared
Smaplo may share information in the following situations:
-
With other users, according to your profile, location, group, event, message, and privacy settings.
-
With service providers that help us operate the app, including Firebase/Google services, cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, authentication providers, map or geocoding providers, and cloud backup providers when you choose those features.

-
When you intentionally share content, links, invitations, locations, or profile information through Smaplo or your device sharing tools.
-
To comply with law, legal process, valid government requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Smaplo, or others.
-
In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice where required.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use precise location data solely for advertising or analytics.

Account Deletion and Data Retention
Smaplo includes an in-app account deletion flow. When you delete your account, we attempt to delete your account record, related app data, local preferences, and Firebase Authentication user record.
You can also request account or data deletion through https://www.smaplo.com/delete-account. If you cannot access the app, you can use the instructions on that page to request deletion by email.
Some information may remain for a limited time if it is stored in backups, logs, crash reports, analytics records, security records, other users' message histories, legal compliance records, or content you shared with groups or other users. We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including platform security features, Firebase security controls, access restrictions, and secure transport where supported. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Data Transfers
Smaplo and its service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
